KATIE CAMP AND KATIE KABBES RECEIVE MULTIPLE ALL-AMERICAN NODS

Katie Camp (6-5 Sr. MB, UCLA) and Katie Kabbes (6-5 Sr. OH, Penn State) were each selected to several All-American teams in honor of their outstanding performances during the 2007 high school season.  The American Volleyball Coaches Association, Volleyball Magazine and PrepVolleyball.com all named the two seniors to their respective All-American squads and Volleyball Magazine also added them to their prestigious “Fab 50” list of the nation’s top fifty senior high school players.

Camp rebounded from a torn ACL that caused her to miss her entire junior season and set a number of school records on her way to 2007 conference player of the year honors.  Katie had the single most dominating performance in program history by recording 29 kills and a school-record 20 blocks in a 3-1 win over eventual California Division 1 state finalist, Nevada Union in the Archbishop Mitty Invitational Tournament in San Jose in late September.

Kabbes claimed her second straight NCHSAA 2A state finals MVP honor last November and she received her second consecutive North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year award in January.  Katie was a finalist for PrepVolleyball.com’s 2007 National Player of the Year award and holds a number of school records including career kills (1500), single-season kills (478) and career aces (221).

The two seniors were featured in a six-page cover article in the March 2008 issue of Volleyball Magazine.  Camp (#3) and Kabbes (#4) are the two most decorated players in school history and they have had their respective jerseys retired.
